The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises enshrine universal minimum standards of conduct in a wide range of areas including the environment, labor, human rights, and transparency. The U.S. Department of State houses a National Contact Point (NCP) to address issues raised under the Guidelines.
As the Guidelines undergo a global update and several countries in Europe reform their NCPs, what role should the U.S. NCP play? How can the Obama Administration take full advantage of the opportunity offered by the Guidelines and the NCP process to raise the standards for corporate social responsibility?
