Confronting Firestone in Liberia, Coke in Colombia and Russell in Honduras: Workers’ rights advocates are using drastically different tools to take on multinationals committing labor abuses around the world.  This workshop brings together global labor rights activists who utilize a diversity of strategies for fighting for workers’ rights.

What Makes a Successful International Labor Solidarity Campaign?

The economic crisis has hit low-wage workers the hardest, both in the US and around the world. In this workshop, we'll look at case studies of recent international labor solidarity campaigns: what has worked, what hasn't, and what have we learned both about how we organize in our home communities and how we work with international allies. We will showcase a range of strategies that activists and organizations in the US are using, such as corporate campaigns, local organizing campaigns and policy reform.

Workers’ Struggles for Labor Justice and Sustainability in the Food System

This panel will provide an overview of food supply chains and workers in the food system, and workers along the food chain – from farm workers to restaurant workers - will share stories about working conditions that they face and the solutions they are forging to improve those conditions.
